Jonathan C. Poore

Jonathan is co-owner of Express Watersports and its divisions with his wife Jennifer Jones-Poore. Jonathan was born and raised in Charlotte NC. He attended both Irmo High School and Independence High School and worked in the family building business in Charlotte building Custom homes with his father Gene Poore and his Uncle John R. Poore. He has lived in Columbia SC and Camden SC while working in the real estate and land survey business with his grandfather Sheddie Tetterton. He Also joined his father in the Real Estate appraisal and Mortgage business. Jonathan moved to Murrells inlet/Garden City beach in 1990 with his cousin Todd for the summer and stayed in their Grandfathers beach house. Jonathan decided to stay. He is now an Alumni of Coastal Carolina University with a degree in business from the Wall School of Business. Jonathan is a licensed Master Captain who is at the helm of either the Dive or Parasail boat or the shop. He also works on dive gear, sells dive gear and promotes South Carolina dive charters and watersports activites.

Jennifer Jones-Poore

Jennifer is co-owner of Express Watersports and its divisons with Jonathan Poore. She was born and raised right here in our area and has called Surfside Beach her home for many years. She went to High school at Socastee High and Jennifer is a Graduate of Coastal Carolina University.She started Scuba Express with Jonathan and her brother Benjamin in 1997. Jennifer is responsible for most operations and keeping the Show together. She is responsible for our reservations department staff, ordering dive gear, and doing the accounting/ book-keeping. She hires most of our reservation girls for the summer. She also keeps most of the Boys/Men on our staff in line.

Diverswarehouse.com is the internet sales division of Scuba Express which is a part of the Express Watersports Family. Express Watersports is home to our Dive Instruction parasaling operations, dive charters, kayak rentals, tours, and Ocean sightseeing Trips. We have been proudly serving the Myrtle beach & Murrells inlet area since 1997, and our site provides you with plenty of local information about our area.

We started out in a small 500 sqft area of a Local fish house  renting out 5 sets of dive gear and filling tanks from a 6 cfm compressor with 3 welding bottles. Over the years we have continued to grow and change with the market to what is now our present day operations.  In the winter of 2008 we opened a new branch of Express watersports called Murrells Inlet watersports.

What sets us apart from other online stores is we actually use the gear we sell. Our charter operations serve many dive shops, clubs and groups that enjoy diving off the Myrtle beach coast, and it is through these charter opeations that we use this gear in real ocean conditions. We also service lots of gear we dont sell, when we do, we ask our customers why they bought the equipment they did, and what they like about it. By doing this we can be more knowlegeable about the brands we sell, and we can consider bringing new brands to our customers. We also sell to many local aquariums that do over 15-20 dive shows per day. We consult with them on the right gear for their needs and how that gear will hold up under the harsh conditions that so many dives a day will create. IF gear has problems we find out quickly, and then determine if its going to hold up or not.

We also supply many police dive teams, rescue squads, fire departments, beach patrols, dive resorts, and yes, even the military has come calling. We are a factory service repair facility for all the gear we sell, so we service many dive teams and departments, keeping their gear in top condition for the next emergency call. We assemble all the gear we sell and do a bench test on it before it ever leaves our shop or warehouse. We test the first stage pressure and the breathing rate to factory standards or higher. We do all this becuase we want you to have the best possible products at the best possible price, and our mission is to do everything we can to make sure you have excatly that.
